Dirty and broken!!

The Dirty Dash seems to have become a tradition in a our household and Aubrey has been looking forward to this one all year.  What made it all the more fun is that she got to run it with friends.  Jeff's co-worker Joe brought his oldest kids so they could run it together.  Jeff and Joe did the adult race first, and Jeff was smoking it.  Soooo, he decided to celebrate by doing a cannonball into the last pit (which in previous years has been quite deep).  Imagine his surprise to find that it was not much more than a puddle, and even more to feel a pop in his ankle that rendered him incapable of standing once he hit the ground.  He crawled out of the pit and dragged his useless leg to the finish line, but had to sit out the kids' race...

The kids getting ready to go.

Here they are ready to roll in the mud!

 Or crawl...

Stagger??

Let's give the legs a rest!

Aubrey had a great time!  And Jeff did too despite ending up with a broken fibula.  Right now he is in a boot while we wait to see if he will need to have it pinned or not.  Of course even a broken leg can't keep him down and he is out walking around (there may be a little bit of a limp) like a regular dude.  He was quite miffed when he took Darcy out for a walk on Friday and I got worried they might be stranded after they were gone over an hour and a half.  I guess I should know by now that I never have to worry about him!
