The farmer and the belle?

I can't forget this picture! AJ pulled out the pioneer clothes and at first they had it right. She was wearing the skirt and bonnet and D was wearing the hat and vest. They went in and out pretending to be pioneers and farm the land (otherwise known as our garden). Then somehow their play went all wrong... or right, if you value how much fun they had being so silly. And I do.

Eatin' chocolate peas

We have a set of CDs that I got several years ago called, "Silly Songs for Kids." We listen to them in the car and my kids love them (especially D). One of the songs on there is called "Eatin' goober peas." We have contemplated what goober peas might be, but really have no idea. Well a couple of weeks ago I gave the kids chocolate ice cream for dessert. D wasn't quite done with his dinner, but he loves peas and I wasn't worried about him finishing them so I set his ice cream by his plate. What I didn't expect was that he would combine the two, and LOVE IT!! In fact he keeps asking for more chocolate peas. So we have made up our own version of the song. . . "peas, peas, peas peas, eatin' chocolate peas. Goodness how delicious, eatin' chocolate peas!"

Dalancey's baptism

Lancey was baptized the day after Amber's wedding. And right before the baptism my dad ordained Nathan as a high priest (he was called to serve in the bishopric just a couple of weeks before they came out here). It was nice that we could all be together for these important events!

Hangin' with Nate's fam

My brother and his family stayed with us a few days before the wedding. We had a great time together! The Monday after the wedding we went with them to Bridal Veil Falls. We had a great time hanging out with them and playing in the water.

My little sister got married last weekend. Look at her glowing (hee, hee).







Brealle, along with our awesome babysitter Jennifer, fixed the younger girls hair. This is the best AJ's hair has ever held curl. Now I need to buy myself a magical hair wand...
And one last shot of D at the end of the night. He got into some wild cherries at the reception center and had them smeared all over the front of his vest. It did come completely out. Whew.

A few high "lights"

I started downloading pictures from the 4th right after they were taken, but obviously didn't get very many done. At this point I am so behind on posts that I'm just leaving it at these 3. We had a great time (despite the rain) and hope you did too!

Ties

our listening skills. I asked them to each draw me a picture of what proper listening looks like. Can you guess who did which? Cracks me up how their different interests/personalities show in their pictures.

Two times, both of you

J and I were sitting on the couch at the end of the day when D came over and flopped across our laps. He looked up, smiled at us and said, "Mommy and Daddy you are great!" Then pointing at each of us with a squintey eye he added, "Two times. Both of you." Oh I love that kid!

celebrating with friends!

We had Russ, Vivian, and Co. over Saturday. We met this wonderful family while we were in Australia. They arrived a couple of months after we did, and we had a great time getting to know them and spent a lot of time playing together. They moved out here a year ago and we talked about getting together, but it never happened. So a couple of weeks ago when we saw them at the annual "business" barbeque I decided we were long past due and invited them over. Russ was as patient with AP as ever letting him talk his ear off about his Scribblenauts game. The girls went right to playing cats (their old favorite) and had a great time romping around outside.

These are the only semi-still pictures I got of the girls. We didn't see much of them after they were done eating.


Andrew and D hit it off! Russ said that on the way Andrew was a little apprehensive (being too little to remember hanging out with us in Oz), and said, "But I don't know them!" Once they got here though the boys went straight out to the sand and stayed there playing together for THREE hours. No upsets at all. I was amazed. Here they are playing "pirates" in the sand. When I went out to check on them they told me they were pirates digging for treasure.
