Sunday morning we all went for a bike ride down to the river bottom to get some wiggles out before everyone had to sit. It was a beautiful morning and it made me happy to bring up the rear and just watch everyone up ahead. D was so cute in his little seat attached to the back of J's bike, while AP and AJ rode alongside each other much of the way talking. I loved watching that exchange. Once we got to the bridge we found it was still washed over so we couldn't go any further. It was time to head back anyway for the first session of conference, but before we got very far AP's tires went flat. They had gotten thorns in them and had several little holes. So I stayed behind with him while J and AJ went back for the truck. I guess they hadn't gone too much farther when AJ's tires also went flat, so J had to leave her by the library. Once we gathered everyone and their bikes we let them play at the library park for a bit while we listened to conference in the truck. Then we headed home for the rest of it.
After the first session we walked over to Centennial Park with a little picnic lunch. It was fun to sit in the grass and enjoy the crisp Fall air. We played a little tag and then headed home for the next session of conference. We had everyone gather in our bedroom for that session and AJ and D drew and colored while AP read for the first part of it. Then I pulled out straws, paper clips, and tape and we all worked together to build a temple out of them. It was actually a great activity to keep everyone engaged but still allowed them (and me) to listen. Here is our finished product:
There were so many good talks that I need to do a separate post to include some of the highlights for me. It was a very uplifting weekend!
