Anybody else end up with stray socks that they keep around, waiting and hoping it's mate will turn up eventually? I keep mine in a bag in the bottom of our "clean" laundry basket (I keep a laundry basket on hand to throw clean clothes into until I have a chance to fold them). Every so often I go through the sock bag to see if I have found any mates. Sometimes I do. Yet there are those socks that have been in the bag for years. Some of those have become sock puppets, others just sit there because I don't know what to do with them. Then on pinterest I saw a tutorial for a sock teddy bear. That got the wheels turning so I brought along some of our strays thinking that would be a great activity when we needed something to do. My kids weren't interested in Teddy Bears, but D loves the game "Plants vs. Zombies" so we made him a zombie. I'd forgotten to bring fiberfill so I had him tear up plastic grocery bags while I did the stitching and we scrunched those up and stuffed the zombie with that.
AP thought the zombie was pretty cool and wondered if he could do a stone golem. Voile!
And of course AJ wanted a cute, cuddly little kitten.
We had a lot of fun, and I wish I had brought the whole bag of strays, because now I want to make more!
Do I not have the most creative and talented daughter-in-law ever :)?!
ReplyDeleteOh Mom you're such a sweet talker. But it sure makes me feel good! :)
