On our way to Maryland (the destination of our road trip) we stopped off in Oklahoma to visit J's parents. We were lucky enough to get to spend the 4th with them which was a first for us.
Their city had a ban on fireworks, but Grandpa picked up some "low key" fire crakers and sparklers to entertain the kids (we won't mention that Grandpa bought the fireworks in the neighboring city where he works and didn't realize that they were probably not of the "approved" kind until we set them off - sweet grandpa). A lot of these are pictures are too dark making it hard to see what's going on, but are too precious to leave out.
Finally, D taking care of Daddy. J had been covering his ears during the extra loud fireworks, so D was returning the favor.
Sometimes it is the simplest things that make a holiday special. Watching the kids do sparklers was so much fun.
