We have a family tradition of taking a walk together every Sunday afternoon. It's nice to get out and move while enjoying some fresh air together as a family. Last Sunday we decided to take a walk behind our house and ended up scaling the Macdonnell mountain range. We did see quite a few kangaroo, but they camoflage too well and were pretty quick so we didn't get any good pictures. We had a great time though, despite Aubrey falling into a spinifex plant and getting full of spines as well as a scraped up knee and me sliding into an old stump and scraping up my shin. It was a big hike for a little kid, but Derek was awesome and said to me, "We should do this more often. Climbing mountains is really good for strengthening muscles (sounds like he's taking after his dad doesn't it?).
Beautiful views of the city from the top!
Pretty classic. After taking in the cool view Aiden sat right down and pulled out his 3DS. Sigh. Derek wanted to know where our house was, where the church was, where his school was... so even though it looks like I am pointing at Aiden I am trying to point out things to Derek.
This Saturday after getting some chores done we went to check out the Reptile Center. They had a great interactive show.
Darcy wanted to hold everything! Of course we couldn't let her, which made her pretty mad, but I guess the upside is that we'll be here long enough that if we go back in a few years she can still have her chance.
After the reptile center we headed to Simpson's Gap for a little hike. Darcy fell asleep driving there so she and I took a little nap in the car while Jeff took the big kids out to get started.
I so wish I'd had the camera on the action setting because Aiden sneezed right when I took this shot, and you just can't get the full effects here. It was pretty funny.
Where's Aiden?
Darcy and I were going to catch up, but they were done by the time I woke up (you read that right... Darcy woke up before I did. Aiden got bored and came back before everyone else. Darcy woke up when he got in the car. I on the other took longer coming out of it). It was really more of a nice walk than a hike, but it was really pretty. Aubrey and Derek wanted to go again so Jeff stayed and let Darcy play in the sand while they took me to the water hole.
This girl is walking!! She's been taking a few steps here and there, but she went for it Saturday afternoon. She still prefers her crawl for getting places, but she's having fun walking a bit here and there.
That is crazy that Darcy is already starting to walk
